Week 3 of marathon training is in the books!
These days were pretty busy settling down back in the house: lots of laundry, cleaning, working (new great project coming up soon!), etc.
I was really excited about our first session of Run, bootcamp, run (lululemon Savannah’s new run club) that I’m leading with a friend, but it rained. This is something I’ve always wanted to do: create and lead a free running club for the community I live in! The kick-off will be this Wednesday at 6 p.m. so if you live nearby definitely come check it out!
I’m also very excited about another event coming up this Friday: my Team R4V fundraiser for the Marine Corps Marathon. I’ll be running on a treadmill at lululemon from noon until 3 p.m. to collect funds for this amazing cause… If you are in town definitely stop by and say hi! If you still want to collaborate but can’t make it to the store click here.
Now let’s talk training… It’s so freaking hot down here I can’t even describe it. Seems like I forget how humid this place can be until summer comes around. One day it was 106F and on Friday I made the mistake to go run at 9 a.m. when it was 98 degrees! Definitely sticking to my 6-7 a.m. runs.
Here’s how this past week went:
MONDAY: 7 miles @8:52/mile (6 x 30 sec. pick ups)
TUESDAY: Iron Bodies class + cardio (jumping rope + elliptical)
WEDNESDAY: 6.2 miles @8:49/mile
THURSDAY: Pure Barre
FRIDAY: 5 miles @8:57/mile + Power Yoga
SATURDAY: 12 miles @8:48/mile
TOTAL MILEAGE: 30.2 miles
I’m finally feeling more comfortable running in a sub 9 min. mile pace. It’s crazy how easy we can loose speed and resistance when we stop training but almost a month in and I have shave like 30 seconds per mile of what I was doing before training started… Getting closer to my goal one step at a time!
Have a beautiful week CHIC@S!
