So, I’m getting married…. Because of that, I decided I was going to go to an eyebrow “specialist” to shape them perfectly for the big day! I’ve never had my eyebrows done in my life so I was kind of nervous and anxious at the beginning.
Anyhow, the woman who did them (recommended by a co-worker) is one of the most beautiful and lovely persons I’ve ever met… She just transmits a great energy and vibe right away. She loves talking a lot, like me, so we got along pretty well. We chat about love, life and shared our hobbies. We said goodbye with hugs and kisses and I scheduled an appointment to go again one month later.
So yesterday I went back. First thing she said when she saw me was “Thank you, I’ve been thinking about you so much.” And of course I was like “NO! I’m the one who thinks about you every time I look in the mirror.” We laughed and she said she was thankful because since I told her I was a runner and that I loved races and sports she decided to start running again. She’s even logging 20-24 miles a week!
This completely made my day. She had a baby a little bit over a year ago and, even though she looks like a super model (beautiful skin, tall and skinny), she said she wanted to loose those stubborn pounds to feel more comfortable on her own skin. She said, “No more excuses, I’m going to do this.” Those words got stuck in my head… I always say that to people, but I guess is different when you hear that coming from someone else’s mouth.
Today is a new day, and there are no excuses to not take care of your body… it’s the only place you have to live in anyways. You are the only one who has control over your life; you have the tools to work towards who you want to be tomorrow. Small steps will lead you to wonderful places you didn’t even think existed.
With our busy life and crazy schedules sometimes is hard to make time for exercising, but if you really want to do it you’ll make time for it. Wake up an hour earlier to workout or go to the gym after work. For those who say you don’t have enough money to pay for a gym membership, you can walk outside! Run! Exercise at home or at a park! There’s NO EXCUSES.
There are so many effective exercises you can do ANYWHERE: abs, mountain climbers, squats, jumping jacks, jumping rope, lunges, etc. Just be creative and MOVE!
Weather should never be an excuse… Exercise at home!
Studies have demonstrated that to make something a habit you need to do it for 21 days. So once you get started, if you are consistent, it’ll become second nature to you. Same happens with food… stop eating candy for 21 days and you won’t crave it any more. Remember, food = fuel.
“Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.”
– George Washington Carver –
