Last week I conquered my fear of running 18 miles! Last time I ran that far was back in November at the NYC Marathon but now that it’s behind me I can reassure to myself that everything is possible.
Surprisingly I felt great during the long run, which in part I attribute it to the weather since I was in California. We were there for a few days because Bobby was working and then I came home because I was hosting a shower for my sweet sister-in-law to be 🙂
Another week has passed and, even though I didn’t get in all the miles I was supposed to run, I prioritized my “options” and got to spend a lot of quality time with my family.
Bobby was out of town the first half of the week so my parents helped me with some work stuff, they came over for dinner, we exercised, went out to eat, etc. They are gone now and that makes me sad but at least we created great memories over the past 3 weeks and that’s something nobody can take away from us.
What an AMAZING week ends today… These past days were filled with joy, happiness and great accomplishments!
There were 4 events in the past 7 days that completely filled my heart with joy:
Another recovery week is behind me… But now it seems that I’ll have a full month of recovery instead of just a couple of weeks.
On Monday I went for an easy 7 mile run and I felt fine but when I tried to do the same on Tuesday I ended up walking back home. The pain on the outside of my right knee was so intense that I couldn’t even jog. I iced it, used the foam roller and three days later, when the pain was gone, I tried to go again but the same thing happened.
I can’t believe all the hard work is behind me and that I just have 5 days to go until race day!
This week was pretty similar than the past ones: work with clients, dinner with friends, training and no wine drinking … yes, NO drinking! This time I decided I was going to cut alcoholic drinks 2 weeks before race day and I’ve been doing good… I just cheated on Saturday at a Halloween party with one beer!
This was my last “serious” week of training for the NYC Marathon so I wanted to give it all I could…
We had a dinner party at the house that turned into a great evening with friends surrounded by pizza, salad, champagne, beer, wine and more wine!
Three more weeks until marathon #5! How crazy is that? I can’t even explain you how happy I am… I’ve never been soooo looking forward to a race in my life! Not even to Boston!
Fall is finally arriving down here… can you believe that when I went for my run this morning it was 64F? The humidity is still pretty intense but at least the temperature dropping helps a little bit!
I was very nervous this morning when I had to line up in the starting line of the YMCA Heart of Savannah 5K. For some reason on bigger races I don’t get nervous at all, but this smaller ones get on my nerves! Maybe is because I feel the pressure that I know I can do well and place on my age group? Or is it because I know that going faster than usual in shorter distances is totally going to wear me out?
Yesterday we finally got a much needed girls night that we’ve been talking about for months!
My beautiful friends Sarah and Ashley got to my house around 6 p.m. where we talked, cooked and drank wine… By the time we decided to get off the table we realized it was midnight!
I really love how when you are really enjoying yourself you loose all sense of time and space because you are so happy and present that basically nothing else matters!
