Last week I conquered my fear of running 18 miles! Last time I ran that far was back in November at the NYC Marathon but now that it’s behind me I can reassure to myself that everything is possible.
Surprisingly I felt great during the long run, which in part I attribute it to the weather since I was in California. We were there for a few days because Bobby was working and then I came home because I was hosting a shower for my sweet sister-in-law to be 🙂
These days have been a bit hectic.
We were in Santa Monica during the week and flew back home on the weekend… While in California I had 2 normal runs and a really bad one.
Long story short, because a condition I have that I’ll share with you later, I’m supposed to be taking flax seed oil. I bought some 1000mg capsules and took the first one on Tuesday… After that everything is history.
The inaugural Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K weekend quickly arrived and what a blast we had!
I’ve enjoyed every single part of the event from the moment I got involved with it. New Balance, one of the main sponsors, had an awesome presence throughout the whole process and treated us, ambassadors, like queens (yes, this means we got all sort of awesome gear!)
I’m convinced that everything happens for a reason. The people we meet, the situations we find ourselves in, the places we live… EVERYTHING that comes into our lives has a purpose.
Over a month ago I received an e-mail from Devan, the face behind of LEAF+ROOT, telling me how much she enjoyed reading my posts and that she wanted to send me some of her products for me to try because she felt they were aligned with my philosophy of eating/living as close to the earth as possible.
I’m so excited that my first article for Savannah Morning News was published today! Now I’m part of another great outlet that will help me to keep spreading the message of wellness with the community I live in. This is a huge accomplishment for me so I wanted to share the great news with all of you.
Last week, as almost every week around here, was pretty busy…
On Tuesday we had the opportunity to go support the YMCA of Coastal Georgia by being the judges of a cookie competition (what a tough job 😉 ) We learned a lot about the organization and hopefully we’ll be helping them a little bit more with their kid’s nutrition system.
I just realized that my Sunday’s weekly mileage motivational posts have become more of like a Monday or Tuesday post… Sorry about that but apparently there’s always something going on around here on the weekends and now I finally got the chance to seat in front of my computer to share with you a little bit about last week.
This race recap is not going to be like previous ones, so I hope you enjoy it because this is going to be long and you’ll probably see a bunch of pictures of me 🙂
Since I moved to the U.S.A almost 5 years ago I wanted to run the NYC Marathon. I tried to sign up back in 2010 but it was too late, so I did Chicago and loved it! I loved it so much that as today I’ve finished 5 marathons in 4 states: Chicago, Savannah, Boston, Savannah and yes, NY!!!
Last week was one of the slowest weeks of my life… Do you know when you are waiting for a specific day and it seems to never arrive?
I feel I can’t remember anything that happened until I lined up at the starting line of the NYC Marathon on Sunday but let me think…
I can’t believe all the hard work is behind me and that I just have 5 days to go until race day!
This week was pretty similar than the past ones: work with clients, dinner with friends, training and no wine drinking … yes, NO drinking! This time I decided I was going to cut alcoholic drinks 2 weeks before race day and I’ve been doing good… I just cheated on Saturday at a Halloween party with one beer!
